Letter to the Editor

It is important for our community and the entire world to know about the rainforests. World citizens need to be aware of what is happening to the world’s rainforests, why they should stop it, and how they can help to stop rainforest destruction. Since we have had the opportunity to discuss these issues in class, it is now your responsibility to write a letter to the editor of the News Gazette to help inform others in the Champaign/Urbana area about the rainforests. Be sure to include:

• What the problem is. (What is happening to the rainforests? Why? Be specific, Give details!)
• Why we should stop the destruction of the rainforests. (Why are the rainforests important? How do they affect our everyday lives?)
• What can people around Champaign/Urbana do to help save the rainforests? (Give them some ideas of how they can pitch in to help save the rainforests.)

Your letter to the editor must be at least one page in length. Be sure to address each of the ideas presented above. This is a great opportunity to share what you are learning with others in the community. I know you’ll do a great job!!!
